So yes, once in Marbella, I caught a train to Sevilla (3 and a half hours away) and slept most of the way. I thought I might get sick being in the back of the bus so I told them I was pregnant so I got to sit in the front seat. I had gone to bed at 1am as Jose and his mum, and the rest of Spain I imagine, have dinner sometime between 9pm and 11pm.
We'd had spaghetti and Jose was feeding his mum strands of spaghetti to see if it was cooked. Cute.
Sevilla was magical. The first day I walked to find cheap accommodation only to end up staying somewhere for 40 euro which is not exactly for someone on a budget but hey, I was hot and I have never travelled in a way where I have allowed myself luxuries so these 3 days are about treating myself a bit. I walked the streets of Seville and made the mistake, yes the mistake, of doing a tour through the plaza de toros de la real. One could only enter if one took a tour. Not only was the guide a bad dose of the snores (seemed like she had been doing it for two lifetimes and had got to the stage where rather than bringing a place to life, she brought it to death!) And not only that, I also decided that I HATE the idea of bullfighting. But nonetheless it is history, isn't it? And culture, isn't it? And F*** I'd paid my 8 euros so I was going to take photos! So here you are folks, the grand Spanish sport of Bullfighting. I never realised the bull HAD to die! Apparently it is all about the strength of the bull against the intelligence of man. Well, if that's intelligent, Einstein was a retard as far as I'm concerned!
Of course there were other virtuous activites, like man to man fights on horseback.
A famous painting by Veraquez. It's the death of someone.
The guy was famous as being the only bullfighter who sat while he fought as he had a problem with his legs. Sorry, but I have to laugh.
A kid started at 7 years of age and by 14 he was a successful bullfighter and this is what he wore.
Now, I think if a bullfighter was injured by a bull the mother cow is sacrificed so as not to produce any more killer bulls. It all makes me cringe a little bit....
A famous bull!
Anyway, after all that bull shit I headed to the plaza de espana and the park for some beauty and tranquillity.
La torre del oro.
La plaza de espana - I fell in love with it! Apparently some part of Star Wars was filmed here.
I originally thought the girl is the pink t-shirt was real and was painting the statue... then I got closer and realised they were both statues. I didn't dye my head blond for nothing!
Yucca, yucca, yucca....
Girl below waterfall posing for photos....
I am a Leo
I loved this statue...
In Sevilla water was spraying out of bars onto people dining or passing by. Such a treat in the scorching heat. I always wanted to be a poet. God I am cheesy!
And to finish... paella and sangria.... listening to Nora Jones. I love it!
Spanish man with paper and coffee. Good night and God bless xox
